I took up running just about 2 years ago.  At first I was out of breath even running 1/2 km.  In time, I was able to run 1 km, then 2 km....

As I started adding more km, a thought entered my head.  I wonder if I could ever run a marathon?  Well, last November I ran my first marathon, Hamilton's Road2Hope marathon.  It wasn't pretty ( I now know what it means to "hit the wall"), but I did it.  I learned some lessons from that, such as start SLOWLY and make sure to consume lots of calories and electrolyte, and a couple of weeks ago I ran the Toronto GoodLife Fitness marathon.  Although I will say that running the last 10 km felt like the hardest thing I have ever done, it looks like my time will be good enough to qualify me for the Boston marathon next April!  The good news abouit getting older is that they graciously allow you more time to run it and still qualify.

I've also signed up with my daughter, Sarah, to run the Walt Disney World marathon in January.  In this marathon you run through all 4 theme parks with all the Disney characters cheering you on.  How cool is that?!

I never dreamed I could run a marathon, let alone qualify for the Boston marathon.  It just shows what you can do when you put your mind to it.

Anyways, gotta run.  :)
